For a trip to Guatemala, pack both lightweight and warm clothing to adapt to the varied climates.

From the Altiplano region to the Petén region, weather patterns vary significantly. Generally speaking, days are pleasant and nights are cool in the Altiplano, while days are warm to hot in Petén with pleasant evenings.

For hikers planning to camp on the volcanoes, nights can be quite cold (frost is possible), particularly between December and late February.

As a general rule, favor quick-drying clothing.

Here is our suggested packing list. Depending on your itinerary, additional items may be recommended and specified to you.

  • Cotton t-shirts or quick-drying fabric
  • Comfortable trousers
  • Shorts
