This small locality was built along the road leading to Tikal park. Its wooden houses with diverse architectures blend almost seamlessly with the trees, bushes, and the abundant greenery throughout the town.

Along the town's main avenue, a discreet dirt and stone path on the left leads to the shores of Lake Petén Itzá. On the banks of this vast expanse of azure blue water, you can admire the surrounding greenery, a few water lilies, and the verdant mountains of the region. Climate

El Remate sits in a tropical savanna climate. Heavy showers fall on its surroundings in June and September through November. They diminish from November to February due to winter. Temperatures rise again from March to May, preparing residents for the next rainy season.

You can reach El Remate from the bus station in Flores or Santa Elena. Regional buses connect to the town in about an hour's drive.
